Introduction

This system will hopefully be a low maintenance setup. I will be keeping Soft corals only, with minimum fish.

Filtration

Filtration will be handled with a CPR hang on back refugium with a Current USA 6004 660 GPH Wave Pump, and Oceanic BioCube Protein Skimmer driven by a Fluval Q5 air pump. 10 lbs of live rock.

The refugium houses 5 lbs. of Ecosystem Aquarium Miracle Mud with Chaetophora algae.

The co-counter current skimmer is working very.

Lighting

Using 2 Current USA Marine LED 24" fixtures. These lights are good enough to keep soft and LPS corals. Maybe even keep SPS alive in shallower systems.

Flow

The refugium is supplied with a 650 GPH power-head, and the Current USA wave maker surges every 10 seconds at 660 GPH. I estimate that total water turnover is about 900 GPH.

Maintenance

I plan to start out with regular water changes until the system stabilizes over a 6 month period. Hopefully at that point, the system will not require that much work? (I hope...)

On average you perform a 38% water change every 12 days.

62.5% total water change in March.

I'm jealous of this system... I built this system for soft corals only with the idea of being low maintenance. I'm already seeing signs of coralline algae growth, and all parameters seem to just fall
Water test today were surprising. pH is at 8.2. Alkalinity at 8.6. This would explain the coralline algae growth I'm seeing. The anemone is retracted into the rocks, and hasn't been out in about a wee
Macro algae seem to be doing well. I am currently looking into a canister filter for the system. My idea is to skim surface water from the tank, and pump it into the hang on back refugium. I am also c
Installed de*nitrate by SeaChem today. It will take about a month before the denitrifying bacteria are in place to remove nitrates.
Just preformed a PAR check on the Current Marine LED fixture. It was very low given my current settings. I've upped the White channel to 100% keeping the Green at 20% and the red at 50%. Blue channel
System doing just as well as before. Anemone still hasn't moved, and is accepting feedings. Green hair algae is picking up. Overall health of the system is good. NEED SNAILS
