Filtration

40g Breeder tank is drilled in the back for Synergy Reef overflow. I am using Bean Animal Style drain system. For the initial set-up I will be using the following filtration:
- 38 lbs Dry-Rock
- Coral Box D500 Protein Skimmer
- TLF Phosban 150 Reactor to run zeomix (300g) and carbon (2/3 cup)
- TLF 150 Reactor full of CO2 scrubber attached to airline for skimmer
- Aquatop MR20 reactor full of Seachem De*Nitrate media (low flow)
- Apex Neptune Controller (Lab grade pH, Temp)

- Tuze Osmolator ATO will be used for maintaining salinity

Lighting

36" ATI Sunpower T5HO 6 x 39W bulb
Schedule (12 hours total- 2 hours dusk/dawn, 8 hours full)
10:00 to 21:00- 2x ATI Blue Plus
12:00 to 18:00- 3x ATI Blue Plus, 2x ATI Aquablue Special, 1x ATI Coral Plus

Fixture is 6" above waterline

Had to remove all the remaining SPS due to die-off. Nitrite continues to be elevated. I also noted some turbo snails have died.
Acro die-off is continuing. Almost all existing sps are showing significant tissue loss or have totally died. Removed several skeletons.
During holiday vacation, an auto-feeder was used to feed fish. it apparently added too much food as there was an abundance left on the bottom of the tank and it appeared that I had an ammonia/nitrite
Increased dosing to 14 ml/day
adjusting dosing down to 7 ml/day on Components after getting a high ALK reading of 8.4. will monitor to see where it settles out
Removing Phosphate Minus and reducing the amount of ZeoMix to 300g based on such low NO3 & PO4 levels.

Inspiration & Goals

Set up this SPS-dominant frag tank in preparation to doing a larger build (200G+) a few months later. I primarily wanted to set-up this system with very similar equipment prior to the larger build so that I could evaluate how various pieces of equipment worked. Hopefully, some of these pros/cons I experience will help with the next build. Also, by making the system as close as possible to the main tank, any transition for livestock will be very easy.
