Introduction

I started this as a project with my son. He is very excited about it and I though it would be a nice learning experience for him. I soon discovered that I was at least as excited as him :)

Filtration

I use the simple HOB filter that came with the aquarium. It's crude, but it has a good debit and so far it kept the water clean.

Lighting

Lighting is supplied by the lamp that came with the aquarium - a 6W led that is marketed as providing a light intensity similar with a T8 18W neon tube. It does not look too bright, I will see if it provides enough light for the plants.

Additives

I'm trying to keep the artificial additives to a minimum. I am using a dechlorinator and a solution for cycling (to accelerate initial bacteria growth).
