dtum ‐ Now that's a cool use of the Fluval tank. Are you worried at all about the oxygen depletion? I can see how this could become an issue.
jmuftw ‐ I have not heard of anyone having any issues with oxygen depletion with this tank, when there is a will there is a way though if I see if becoming an issue.
dtum ‐ Every reef book on this subject mentions that a shallow and wide reef is much better than tall and narrow due to amount of water surface (this is exacerbated by additional movement of water which causes surface agitation and makes things even better). In this system there is very little of water surface that is exposed.
But you are right, it all depends on the personal experience.
